My fave: kiss kiss hug hug love love!
Then he'll give me a kiss, a hug & tell me tt he loves me
my hubs tried counting, I said it at least 10 times a day to my boy.
Now hubs also wan!!!
Common ones:
baby! Where are you? (he likes to hide)
whatchya doin? (copy phineas & ferb)
I'm counting to 5... 1... 2... (when he's naughty cos if I reach 5, ut means the cane will come out)
what's this/that? (to encourage him to observe & curious)
mummy's busy. Just give me __ minute.
Stand there & don't move! (when he's punished at the naughty corner)
was it fun? Did you enjoy it? (after school/enrichment lass or when trying something new )
his gave to me: how do you spell ____?
Then he'll give me a kiss, a hug & tell me tt he loves me

Your conversation with your ds is very well balanced hor. Not like mine so negative.mrswongtuition wrote:My fave: kiss kiss hug hug love love!

Can you write a book on your eureka moment? I'm sure many parents here also want to be enlighteneddaisyt wrote: Recently, I begin to gain "enlightenment" My naggy is getting lesser and lesser. Why? Because I realised nag or no nag, makes no diff. Might as well save my breathe and energy and be happier
Actually my title is misleading. I meant it as those high frequency words we use to nag at our kids. Sigh, that's why my boss complained that I should go for writing courses to learn to write more conciselyRRMummy wrote:err.. after re-reading the title of this thread, I wanted to clarify. These are NOT my Fav words but more like words I repeat multiple times almost everyday. Looking forward to the day I don't have to be so naggy.

Actually from your facial expression, your ds can catch your mood already. No need tonal differences. My ds told me that when he atttempts a difficult math qn, he'll know whether the ans is correct just be looking at my face ( vs ). I so bad meh?DesertWind wrote:It seems my mantra is:

In all sorts of tones, sometimes reprimanding, sometimes long-sufferring, to whatever my DS says!
Since DD is only 9 months young, my favorite words to her are slightly different from most parents here.
Right now, every time she smiles, frowns or makes a funny face, I'd say to her: "Yes, my darling?"
And when she does something naughty or cries when she falls (she's walking but shakily), I say to her:"Come on sweetheart, you can do better than that."
I hope and pray to stay as positive as possible and keep my words and action that way, but as I'd said she's still a baby. I shall emulate autumnbronze and make her my Singapre Idol
My parents are my true idols though. They never once raise their voices nor hit my older brother and I. I'm sure as good as we were as kids, we'd tested their patience.
DH and his younger brother kena double, sometimes triple canes (tied together) from my MIL

This one is positive reinforcement. My ds's kiddy principal also advised me to use this method. Btw, you're not a kiddy principal are you? That will be too much of a coincidence.duriz wrote:And when she does something naughty or cries when she falls (she's walking but shakily), I say to her:"Come on sweetheart, you can do better than that."
It's just that it's much faster to say 'why still cannot?' And ds will follow up with 'I can, just that I don't want to do it now'
